Catch Up Posting

Last week, we had two young men teach us a missionary lesson from Preach My Gospel and Jan Knudsen sent cookies over with her daughter for having them come. That’s what you call doubly blessed. If missionaries offered cookies proselyting might go up. Ronda took Chantell to the doctors and he said, “If she puts any weight on the broken bone it could split open more and then she would need surgery. It will be four more weeks on crutches.” She cried and for good reason but better caution and care than paying with surgery.

Next, I got the ladders out and climbed on the roof, drained the swamp cooler, covered it for winter and climbed down. The Lord wants us to prepare for the winter (trials) in our lives.

Next, I did a little genealogy. Nothing fancy, just documenting some dates and information so records could show what goes where.

In this thing called life most days are simple and not very complicated. Those days might be some of the best we experience. After work, I came home went over to Tom Arquette’s home to turn in a home teaching report and give him a pair of leather Native American gloves that are extremely old. He's a man of pure descent and should have them. After all that he wasn’t home. I’ll have to try again.

Tyler (Tosha's gentle husband) needs surgery on his lacerated hand… probably Thursday. He needs surgery so he can have nervous, muscles, and tendons worked on. He received a wonderful blessing and I know things it will work out for the best.

Driving home from work, I saw a horse trailer being pulled by an expensive heavy-duty truck. The memory of Gator Boy the only horse I’ve ever owned came rushing back to my memory. He was a golden brown Arabian stallion, fast strong, smart, and handsome. I remembered making an important decision in my family’s life at the time we had him. He would be so much fun for us to ride when he was old enough. Our children would have memories upon memories if we continued to feed him, pay the vet bills, and raise him as a family pet. It seemed like such a wonderful and right decision to scrimp and pay for this luxury. It seemed like it was such a good thing to do. As good as it was the money wasn’t there to do it unless Ronda went to work. A “good thing” to do wasn’t the “eternal best thing” to do. Rather than approach the subject of the mother of our home working so that we could afford to keep Gator we decided to give him back to Grandpa Benson. Having Mother in the home was the eternally right and best thing to do for our young and impressionable family. I have always been thankful for having Ronda in the home with and for our children. Each child has been so very bless for this. I’m seeing Tanielle and Chris follow this same path with their little children.

We watched General Conference as a family and have had our testimonies and spirits strengthened. Elder Henry B. Eyring has been called to replace James in the First Presidency our departed and well love apostle Elder James E. Faust. The Lord has loving giving us continued leadership.

We watched conference this morning in Stansbury Park with Tanielle and in the afternoon with Nana in Murray.

Breakfast at Tanielle’s home was a joint project cooking Swedish pancakes, sausage, and peaches. I got to cook the pancakes. Donna cooked lunch before the afternoon session.
Satan can only entice and tempt. “Satan can’t destroy or weaken your character, only we can do that to ourselves.” Richard G. Scott
“We must… get our teachers to speak out of their hearts and not their books,” taught President Gordon B. Hinckley. I have found that when I speak out of my heart the Holy Ghost can influence what I teach. I’ve learned to teach from my heart through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Godly sorrow, a broken and contrite spirit heart enables us to be teachable.
One must read the Book of Mormon and fast a pray about it and it will be revealed unto us and we will know that it is true and we will know that we know.
Dallin Oaks talked about family togetherness saying, “Spend your time doing not simply “good” things but the “best” things. What children want for dinner is you.”

We (Nana “Elaine”, Donna, Matt Budge, Chantell, Tiffany, Ronda, and I) attended conference in the Assembly Center where our testimonies were strengthened and we received spiritual nourishment and direction.
I learned from Boyd K. Packer, the because of the order of sustaining members to callings first prevented impostors from taking over positions in the Lord’s church, next provided those called to speak in the name of the Lord concerning the stewardship they were assigned, next His work would be accomplished by the weak and simple things of the earth and that they will break down the mighty, next it is not important where we serve but how we serve, next the Holy Ghost will teach us as we serve in the positions we are called, next the Lord’s church has an endless supply of teachers and leaders because all are called to serve, finally we fulfill our callings righteously when we bare pure testimony of Jesus Christ, His atonement, the restoration of His church on earth in this life, and of our Heavenly Father.
